What began as a hypothesis is now a living platform, used by global CPG and ingredient leaders, scientists, and creators to accelerate discovery, design better products, and make evidence-based decisions.

We have built more than AI tools. We have built trust, delivered impact, and brought together a network of thinkers and doers who believe science can solve real problems.

Mission

AI that makes food systems healthier, more sustainable, and more accessible.

The food industry has more data than ever: recipes, ingredient specifications, production logs, scientific literature, consumer research, and regulatory filings. What it does not have is a way to connect all of that information to decisions that get products to market faster, with better nutrition, lower cost, and stronger evidence.

PIPA builds the AI systems that turn fragmented data into product decisions. Our LEAP platform powers the science, including evidence synthesis, bioactive discovery, and claims substantiation. Our FIOS platform powers product development, from first concept through manufacturing and launch.

We work with companies that take food seriously: global CPG enterprises, ingredient innovators, nutraceutical brands, and the R&D teams behind them. Our platforms are deployed in some of the most demanding enterprise environments in the industry.

Science-first

Every output our platforms produce is traceable to primary evidence. No synthesis without citation. No prediction without mechanism. Scientific rigor is the product, not a feature.

Hybrid models

Pure ML breaks on novel formulations. Pure physics is too slow. We combine AI, CFD, chemistry, and omics into a single architecture because that's what real food-systems problems require.

Built with customers

Our capabilities come from Voice-of-Customer work with the teams that use them. We don't ship features nobody asked for. The product roadmap is shaped by the problems our customers are actually trying to solve.

Customer data stays customer data

Proprietary recipes, production data, and research belong to the teams that created them. Our platforms are built to keep customer IP isolated by default.

Enterprise-grade

SaaS or on-premise deployment. Role-based access, versioning, and full audit trails. Integrates with PLM systems, ERP platforms, and your R&D infrastructure.

Research-connected

PIPA is affiliated with the AI Institute for Next Generation Food Systems (AIFS) at UC Davis. Fundamental research informs commercial platforms; commercial deployments inform research priorities.

Where we come from

Ten years of AI for food systems.

PIPA was founded to bring AI systems thinking to food. Over the past decade, that mission has grown from research partnerships into commercial platforms, backed by patents, peer-reviewed publications, and production deployments with some of the world’s largest food companies.
