Tagkopoulos Ilias

Founder

Dr. Tagkopoulos is a leading expert in computational science with a focus in biomedical and business applications. He is a tenured associate professor of Computer Science and Genome Center, University of California, Davis. Prior joining University of California, Ilias was an associate of Credit Suisse, NY office, working on fixed income derivatives models and tools. Ilias holds a Diploma from University of Patras, a MSc from Columbia University and a PhD from Princeton University, all in Electrical Engineering.

Aisopos Kostas

Software Engineering

Dr. Kostas Aisopos is the Chief Architect of the PIPA infrastructure and team lead for the automated machine learning project. Before joining PIPA, Kostas spend five years with Microsoft Inc. working on projects related to Windows Mobile and Cortana AI. He holds a Diploma from University of Patras (Greece), a MSc from Princeton and a PhD from Princeton/MIT, all in electrical and computer engineering.

Minseung Kim

Machine Learning

Minseung Kim is part of the Data Science team in PIPA. He has worked as a computational scientist and machine learning expert for various corporations and institutions. He holds a Master degree from Columbia University and a Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Davis, both in Computer Science.

Berici Eli

Grants and Contracts

Ms. Berici is responsible for regulatory compliance, contracts and financial management. Prior joining PIPA, she was a grants and contracts officer with the University of California, Davis. Eli attended Seinajoki Business School (Finland) and has a BSc in Economics from University of Patras (Greece).

Makarov Vladimir

Bioinformatics Team Lead

Dr. Makarov is our Bioinformatics Team Lead. Prior to joining PIPA, Vladimir worked for large pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, such as Amgen, Pfizer, Monsanto, and Illumina, as well as a few start-up companies. Vladimir is also a part-time university professor at Cal State Channel Islands. Vladimir holds a Ph.D. in Computational Biology from Baylor College of Medicine, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
